Author Topic: Is my graphics card failing? Or a human error?  (Read 768 times)

Here we go.

I have an ATI Radeon 4650, and I installed it into my new computer. At first it didn't work and the monitor said it had no signal, so I reseated it, and it didn't work again. I reseated it a third time, and it worked, the drivers installed, but then I had to restart my computer. After I restarted it, it stopped working.

Could it be because of conflictions between the Integraged graphics card and the ATI card? I did not disable the Integrated card while doing this, so could this be the problem? Or did my card fail?

Uninstall the integrated card.

Uninstall the integrated card.

But I'm afraid of what that might do if the card really DOESN'T work.

You'll be fine. I've done it lots of times. Just goto device manager and go to display adaptors (something like that) and right click the inter. card and click uninstall.

if it doesnt, most good cards will automatically reinstall themself

With my Intel 845 Chipset, you just go into a small resolution and you can't use any games or anything that use hardware.

So, I just had to install drivers and restart to get back to normal.

ATI Radeon 4650 was the first graphics card I ever had in this pc. It was terrible and I recommend you get a different one.

this is what's happening for me right now since my GPUs are auto-disabled due to failing

signs of dying graphics card

It is terrible, and I know that, and that is pretty unrelated.

is it?
you're wondering if it's failing or if it's human error, so i went ahead and eliminated failing

Actually that was a response to Nick4t's post, you just posted right before I did.
