Author Topic: Jet stream question  (Read 1331 times)

Im making a jet, and I want a "stream" of smoke out of the engines, kind of like the private jet. Any idea how to do this, or is it just extra armatures? (Im using Blender)

I faintly remember something about "emitterNode" armatures. You could have multiple ones and then use the script to emit something from those. Use the search.

Well, I'll see.

But now I'm encountering another problem, whenever I select my vehicle on the addon list, and click "start game", Blockland crashes. I figured it was the shape itself...

What am I doing wrong? I got a collision box (with an empty, Col0) and Detail32 and Shape. I parented everything to Detail32, and then Detail32 to shape, and Col0 to shape.

Vehicles are not exactly my trade but I'm pretty sure the collision box isn't supposed to be an empty but an actual 3D mesh. It doesn't have to be a box either.

Oh, the collision box isn't an empty, its a box, basically what I did is Space>new>mesh>cube and resized it around my mesh, then named it Col and parented it to Col0.

EDIT: I also found out there is alot of random empties around my model, is there some function that gets rid of all empties?

Name the mesh Col0 and get rid of the empty Col0. Parent the Col0 mesh to Shape.

You have to do it manually.

Do it manually?! There is like... over one hundred empties, and i'm not willing to waste half my day doing that. Isn't there a script that can do that?

... Will they do any harm?

Oh, and what does naming the mesh to Col0 and parenting it to shape do in difference?

... Will they do any harm?
Can't say for sure, but I'd remove them. How on earth did they come to existence anyways?

Oh, and what does naming the mesh to Col0 and parenting it to shape do in difference?
Yes. That's the correct way to do it.

Well, if you say. I have no clue how they got there, but I made the model in sketch-up then imported. It must've been that.

Ok, we have the same problem, crashing while executing the shape file.

What I did, I deleted shape and detail32, along with Col0. First, I re-created Detail32 and Shape. Then, I named the collision box Col0 and parented it to Shape, then I selected the whole mesh (Not including the collision mesh) and parented it to Detail32, and then parented Detail32 to Shape.

Thats exactly what I did, like you told me.

What could be wrong? Its not the script, I suspected that it was the shape file.

Oh, and heres a snippet of the console:
Code: [Select]

Then it says Blockland has to close.
(The first line of the code describes the vehicle, then it states its shape-file, Jet.dts)

By that I can only say it's a problem with the script. Post the dts exporter log. It's the same name as the exported dts and in the same folder.

Its huge, but here you go.

Oh crud, its not allowing me to upload it to forums. Mediafire, away....

Okay. I do not normally do this as I think it is stupid. But this situation really requires it.

HOLY MOTHERloving stuff!

What is wrong with your model man?! Holy. forget. Damn your model is messed up! How come you have 1209 SEPARATE INDIVIDUAL OBJECTS in your model?! Send me your .blend file this instant. I must exorcise all the evil spirits away from it. No other explanation for this. God damn. That .blend file is like toxic waste or something. Oh man. That log really blew my mind. I'll take a look at your model tomorrow. Oh man. That log. I'm gonna have nightmares tonight.

Uuuh... The model is huge also... are you sure?

EDIT: Do you want Detail32 and Shape and stuff?

Okay now. I am just going outright say that you stole the model. There is roughly zero chance that you modeled this.

Either you have a really rich daddy who bought you a loving beast of a computer (My computer has hard time displaying it and I consider it pretty good. Really choppy.), 3DS Max or similar and this loving Boeing 767 model from loving Air Canada (Their logo is on the plane.). Because this model. I bet it is so accurate that Air Canada uses renders of it for the graphics on their website as well as those huge several meters across size banners that hang from the ceiling.

Or. You are the most idiotic professional modeler Air Canada has ever had. How could ever even think this could be on Blockland?

There is absolutely ZERO chance that this model would ever RUN on Blockland. Not only would it ever get through Ephialtes' RTB, but Badspot would crap-on it in about 2 minutes after release. Why am I so sure that it wouldn't run on Blockland? Okay I am not, but I'm pretty sure it's cutting close.

An average Blockland model has about 1 000 (One thousand) triangles. This model? IT HAS loving

1 055 832

TRIANGLES.
That is a bit over ONE MILLION. People modeling for Blockland are getting anxious if they reach 2 000 triangles. Also 501685 vertices and 12 537 objects. Usually models have 1-10 objects. Below are some screenies of the model. I didn't do any real renders because I was too afraid my computer would melt into toxic goo.

I bet you just added the empties and parented the TWELWE THOUSAND OBJECTS to them, added the collision box which also failed and tried to add some materials to the plane. (The dark parts.)

I didn't count the seats but I'm pretty sure there are more than there are Blockland players online at any one time. There are also those food trolleys complete with drinks and snacks. They are also pretty detailed not to mention the seats.

Just look at the detail.

Oh yeah, here is his PM to me.

Ok, I wanted to send it to you anyways, but I really don't want to waste your time.
Your a good person like that, taking time out of your day to help other people. Thanks :)
But anyways, here is the plane. But before you download, this model wasn't exactly made by me. It was partly made by me, and the rest were a group that made the interior and stuff, and they agree'd that they would allow me to put it in blockland as long as I gave them credit, so don't go freaking out on me and say that I stole it. I'm not a man willing to get in trouble. :P

I will give you credit too due to fixing the model, basically.

This is the Boeing-767 passenger plane. Its gonna take me awhile to add mounts, I know.

But hey, could you keep the making of this a secret? I want to surprise a few people :3

Plus, when I'm done I'm making a custom model of a normal airplane.

Anyways, here you go:

Thanks again!

I really don't know what else to say.
