Stores the startup instructions for the computer. It's a program stored in a small chunk of memory on the motherboard. It storess the various settings used and loads the operating system into memory, and once a significant portion of the OS is loaded it hands over control over to the OS. That is why you see the "scary" black screen computer mumbo jumbo before you see the OS loading screen.

RAM is pretty low. Get one with at least 2gb's like mine but its still slow D= Get a better pc  =D

What are you talking about? If he wants to play games on it he should probably have 2gb's or play games that came out around the year 2000 Haha. Now pc's come out w/ 4gb to what 6gb? What do the gaming computers have? :D

wow you're a loving friend, I played fallout 3 and crysis just fine on my single core with one gigabyte of ram.

sure crysis ran at 1280x1024 on lowest settings with only around 18 fps but it was playable, fallout 3 ran on all lowest with about 25, it was playable and ran just fine.
