No I did not delete System32

When I try shutting down my computer, it just goes back to the desktop after I select "shut down".

Running on xp and I can't shut it down Via power button either, I've only been able to hibernate or remove the battery manually.

Could someone who actually knows what they are talking about, give me some help?

Unplug it?

The whole point in fixing this is so that I don't damage anything by doing that.

I've only been able to hibernate or (remove the battery manually.) Not good

Press the power button?

At least read dammit.

:C

smash it against the wall

or

throw it our the window

It wont shut down? um, try looking at the settings in your control panel

Unplugging it is the same as shutting it off, shutting it down just closes all programs first to avoid file corruption, but it isn't any harder on your hardware.

Sounds like 2 possible problems to me.
One. It might be a virus problem. Run a full scan on your computer or reinstall windows.
Two. It might be a hardware problem. Hard to decode which hardware it is if thats the problem.

Hold Power button for 5 seconds.

ive been doing hard shutdowns for 12 years on PCs.
never experienced a problem with doing so.
