To be honest, I pinpointed this to back when I played Harvest Moon as a little boy, and would get frustrated when using tools on any NPC has no effect.

I was on a game sprite site and downloaded some Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town sprites. It gave me an idea, and I went to Photoshop.
