My friend gave me a game for my bday, so when I went to install it, The avast detected it as virus, and started detecting everything as virus, including steam, so I disabled it.

Now it won't open itself.

Did he give it to you on a burned disk? If so, it's probably illegal and installing it probably gave you a virus.
