He obviously doesn't, it's just that he said something dumb was probably blocking it, so I thought of something dumb blocking it.

No no, RTB has code to prevent errors, but it seems it added some. It was checking version to make sure someone with the wrong version couldn't mess up someone's variables with the wrong type of coding. But it was only comparing version correctly. It was thinking RTB4Beta was some outdated version and not allowing it to edit.

When I built it I decided a raw metric of total downloads was the most useful thing. I can probably add a 'unique downloads' metric too which doesn't increment if the same ID/IP downloads something twice.

I don't think its a huge problem. People spamming downloads and stealing my bandwidth will just get banned from RTB.
