swords deal strong damage but you are defensless, knives have a medium range but not that much defense i think, wands, staves, and bows can go far but can't deal strong damage. it depends also on the speed the character can fire. so i would say archer or huntress if you're on the safe side because the archer has the fastest firespeed, being able to deal a lot of damage, while staying back.
