that a republic is like a monarchy in a way

I could see that maybe, but a monarch is a single ruler who passes power through heredity, usually a king or queen.

A republic is where people elect usually multiple officials to represent them.

It's kind of hard to grasp their similarities.

EDIT: Sorry you already defined both.

Pleeeeeeease lock this thread. :c

NO STOP BEING YOU DUMB YOUR DUMBASS friend NOOB WOW!!!!

There are some types of monarchies that are like republics in a way. Such as constitutional and elective versions

In elective (as the name states) the monarch is elected rather than appointed through heredity.

In constitutional monarchies, they may be hereditary but they must follow a constitution.

i don't care how "like" it is, if there's a monarch it isn't a republic, eg. england.

But Queen Elizabeth almost has no power

england.

I'm pretty sure they called it a constitutional monarchy back then, and a Parliamentary Government today.

Sorry thought we were having a nice conversation

But Queen Elizabeth almost has no power
yeah but she still exists. unless they explicitly state "we are a republic the monarch has no power" (which is kind of an oxymoron) it's still a monarchy, of whatever variation it may be.

so do i~

I don't like the Democrat's Robin Hood-ish philosophy of "Make moar tax for rich people, make less tax for poor people and give them free money so they can buy more drugs!"

The entire 2 party system is ridiculous.  I hate it.  The average person doesn't even make informed decisions anymore, they either swipe down the "Democrat" column, or swipe down the "Republican" column.
