Atleast the phone I have does. Maybe the iPhone has that camera and gel kinda touchscreen.
ALL touch screens work by sensing a change in an electrical current. :l

Resistive touchscreens work by having a bit of plastic hit the surface of the screen, and usually can't detect multitouch (however, can work with styluses and whatnot)

Capacitive touchscreens work by electricity.

The majority of people I know with an iPhone or iPod Touch have a broken screen...

Do they really break that easy or are people just that irresponsible with their stuff?

I've had my 2G iPod since it game out, and it's just fine.
It looks like new, aside from a very thin scratch going across the "Slide to unlock" button thingy.
That was from my cousin thinking his DS stylus could work on it while I wasn't looking.

mine is fine

but water damage causes the lock button and volume up button to both increase volume and lock the screen at the same time

4:17 PM - Cap'n Miga: my friend's dropped his onto the corner of the PC, hit the screen and it did a backflip and dented the back but it's not cracked
4:18 PM - Cap'n Miga: yet all over my school almost everybody's ipod has a cracked screen
4:18 PM - ottosparks the crashed: :o
