rotation makes it 2x uglier
I uh, what? I mean, all opinions are technically valid, but that's a pretty incorrect opinion.
The picture makes perfect sense rotated the other way around. Rotated 180 degrees, it's clearly a boring picture of the reflection of trees in a puddle. The rotation so that the trees are flipped right ways up like you'd logically expect them to be, but the gradient from clear sky to mud and the edge of the puddle gives it a very ethereal effect, whereas, if you traditionally rotate it, it's boring and uninteresting.
