Author Topic: Question about motherboards.  (Read 392 times)

If my computer case is 2ft x 2ft x 10in, then would the motherboard be ATX?

If not, what defines a motherboard as ATX?

Also, if I get a new motherboard, will it still support my 9800GT and sound card and stuff?

Im pretty sure its the positioning of the standoffs inside of the case that determine what size mobo

any mobo with pcie2 can use that card.
but atx is what a (standard) comp case can fit.

I can't gather the exact specs of the motherboard since I am not at that house, but it has an LGA 775 socket, one PCI-E port

and thats all I know about it.

Also the case is some Dell Studio PC or whatever. I have a picture, let me find it.

I don't know the model though D:

thats atx

You are 100% Positive?

I have 240 dollars for a new one, and I want a nice ATX LGA1156

well unless thats a server, your standard standup tower is atx

well unless thats a server, your standard standup tower is atx

Considering it isn't a server, then I guess it's ATX.

Dell Dimension 9200

BTX motherboard ;_;

Unless it is an ATX model, doubt it though.

If you wanted to upgrade your computer you should probably upgrade the case for ventilation, a decent one is like 50 dollars or so
