Go to options and set graphics to fast and change the render distance to something lower, close all background programs that aren't needed etc. etc.

If that fails, stop playing Minecraft on your calculator and get a real computer.

I'd play with anyone, really. My friends don't play often because we rely on a kid to put the server up, and we don't know him too well. :/
