Author Topic: Conversations with a Preacher-Man  (Read 1763 times)

I do not know why my Grandmother insists on giving my phone number to every man, woman, and child in her Baptist church's administration, but while at work today someone called and it turned out to be the replacement Preacher-Man at her church for the Juvenile sect, en lieu of the old one, whom was arrested on molestation charges.

He wants to come over with his wife to my house and introduce himself one day. I assume that means talk about Jesus.

I want you guys to give me the strongest arguments you have against God, Jesus, and Organized Religion as a whole.

>punch in face
>"WHERE'S YOUR GOD NOW"

The nether is not the same as hell.

DOHOHOHO

He molested somebody. I guess that's enough, but sheesh, you don't need to insult every religious person ever :U

You can't argue against religious people, if you do, they will always leave feeling they've won the argument. Sure, while they're throwing stuff at you like quotes from Genesis and Romans to back up their claims, you'll be required to have be extremely familiar with biochemistry, physics, quantum physics, string theory, biology, and a plethora of other sciences the average religion person has no knowledge of, but happily refutes using circular logic from the Bible.

Don't bother, no matter how convincing you are, it will be shot down by their belief that all science is only out to disprove God and you only believe it because Satan tells you to.

I specifically said he's the new Preacher-man replacing the old one that diddled little girls (Baptists do it backwards).

You don't need to be familiar in quantum physics to pick up the bible and explain to a sane person how it's total bullstuff. You're trying to beef up your argument here. Maybe, to refute a few specific arguments by Creationists, you need to know a little about these subjects, but for the most part: no.

And you're making generalizations here. My Grandfather is a long-time Roman Catholic that has an obsession with the History and Science channels. He believes in all modern day science and still believes in a sentient, active God.

You never know what kind of Christian you're dealing with until you talk to them. I enjoy debate/arguments, and I will most certainly take him up on this offer.

Kudos if you convert him to atheism.

I got a phone call today too, but all I got out of it was an appointment to go get my balls grabbed.

Sounds fun.

My grandparents want me to go get a physical but I'm not paying money to get molested.

Find someone who does it free?

Your grandfather is an exception to the rule.

But what arguments specifically are you looking to debunk quickly?

Mine is free of charge; my job is footing the bill.

Christianity branched off of Judaism in that they emphasize believing in only one God.

The Lord hates sinners, but forgives them. Nobody should EVER tell you you'll go to Hell just because you do one thing wrong.

Tell them it is not a Christian thing to try and force their religion on someone and they should feel horrible for doing so, they're supposed to be kind and welcoming. Instead they only claim to read their Holy Book and force everything they think is right on other people. If they try to.

Don't say anything if they are honestly only introducing them self.

They are welcome to believe how they so choose to, but they should not try and make other people believe.

edit: yes, i'm christian, but i don't force it on people, and i'm open to other ideas too
