The bible and God was a way to control the masses in the olden days, using death. If your good you go to eternal paradise, if your bad you go to some firey world or some bullstuff. Very clever really, death is one thing many people fear, and claiming an afterlife is even more devious because its something that is too distant for people to prove or disprove.

Now days I feel its the same thing; people scared of death, wanting life to mean something more, and having problems finding inner strength and their own morals. That and tradition.

Religion is a joke.

Its cleverly crafted over the years to target peoples weaknesses. It controls people by hitting a common fear-- death. It forces people to follow rules of how to live or else they will burn in hell supposably. It rewards good behavior with promise of eternal afterlife, something nobody can prove or disprove-- the perfect lie.

Santa sees all, and knows when you are good or bad. If you are good you get presents, if you are bad you get coal. Santa does not exist.

God sees all, and knows when you are good or bad. If you are good you go to heaven, if you are bad you burn in hell with coal. God does not exist.

yes, reason i dislike religion is there is almost no way to prove a statement true or untrue. the fact that many people say the bible is real "because god said he wrote it and god wouldn't lie" makes me want to shoot myself in the knee. the fact that people can write in a book, say a magic entity told them to write it, and have it worshiped by millions is preposterous.

Exactly, the bible is full of holes and whenever you try to question it to someone religious they come up with some bullstuff loophole. Its all a big scam, and I'm not going to be a part of it.  :cookieMonster:

i could write a book myself and have millions eating out of my palm

the masses of humanity have been blinded by religion
another reason i have litle empathy for my own race
i wish i could mutate myself into a higherbeing and not just a self aware in a sea of drones

I find the relationship between atheists and theists on the internet immensely interesting.

We haven't had a religion war in a very long time.

Why do people believe in a wizard floating above us all in the sky, you ask?

Because mom and pop said you should.  Let's say someone had a life without outside influences of the media and society telling them what to believe.  Do you honestly think they'd come to the conclusion that some dude in the sky snapped his fingers and everything just happened?

I believe in God. It gives me less to think about at night.

i for one ponder everything
existence, what the hell is in mcdonalds besides 100% msg when will we meet alien life when willi rise to power and commit mass anti religious genocide....

I have faith in God because it gives me hope that there is a reason for us being here, and that there is something to look forward to after I die. I don't want to find out that Humanity exists because of evolutionary chance, or end up in some infinite darkness, or come back here in another body with you stupid forgeters.

But, my explanation doesn't matter, because this is just another Goddamn stuffstorm of pretentious idiocy, where the non-theists relentlessly and ceaselessly bash and generalise the Religious, regardless of what they have to say. That's a-loving-lot, Fred.

>Label myself as a believer.
>I'm really not.
>I don't want to think about the important parts of life.

Then wouldn't all life have purpose, including animals and microorganisms?

Traffic.  Alcohol.  Boom, hit by a car.  Nothing happens after that, you have no thought nor emotions, your mind just stops.

If you pose something to think about, I'd gladly discuss it.

I believe in some form of two large entities, one good and one evil.  Obviously they can be referenced to be God and Satan, and their domains to be Heaven and Hell, one for a peaceful afterlife or one full of torture and suffer.

I however refuse to believe in the Bible, anything it says or anything relating to the church.  The church is just some giant stupid bullstuff that people look to for answers about why their child is gender confused or to suck (what they believe to be God)'s richard and try to get in the afterlife, meanwhile still throwing money at the church for "donations".  There are some churches that have a legitimate requirement for money, and there are some churches that are pretty okay.  However, I just don't like it.

Jesus, however, is an interesting case.  I can't really say I believe in him or do not believe in him.  Until we get some time travelling going, as far as I know which we haven't yet, I'm going to say he just was any other guy in history and I could care less.
