it's weird, but i have never in my life seen a buddhist. i have a few hindu kids in my school, but no buddhists.
The general idea is that we don't spread what we believe unless it's asked or relevant. You probably haven't met any because they don't broadcast it like other people might.

Or there just aren't any Buddhists there.

why not? theres no proof that he doesn't exist and i like the feeling of knowing theres life after death.

I used to possess the power to control the weather using my thought power. I have lost that ability.
There is no proof I couldn't so it means I am right.

Painfully bad logic.

well, i don't hear people in my school in my school going "SPREAD THE GOOD WORD, CHRISTIANITY!" or "BECOME MUSLIM AND GET pusillanimous individual!!!!"

The better question is, what is the harm? I don't see why religion is such a bad thing when people are seeking refuge in it.

You did? Me too. :D

Personally I find comfort in being a Christian.

Relative to what religion you believe in, a huge amount.

There is plenty of harm caused by religion, specifically bigotry and anti-science stances. Just look at the fundamentalist sect in the US.

And lets not forget the violence and war that comes from religion.

Buddhism. Enlighten me

Buddhism. Enlighten me

I said religion, not Buddhism. I'm afraid isolating one area to twist the argument won't cut it.

Also, are you seriously a Buddhist? You don't seem like the type at all.

You said "relative to what religion you believe in".

That is the religion I believe in. I'm not twisting anything here. I want to know what the relative harm is for me being a Buddhist.

And lets not forget the violence and war that comes from religion.

Most violence and war nowadays is for political reasons not religious reasons.

Religion as a whole is a bad concept. I won't humor you in brown townyzing each branch of religion. All I know about Buddhism anyhow is a bunch of people sitting around in robes meditating, aiming for enlightenment or some crap. You don't strike me as the discerning Buddhist type, more like a grumpy agnostic.

Most violence and war nowadays is for political reasons not religious reasons.

Someone hasn't seen much of the middle east.

Buddhism. Enlighten me
Buddhism encourages people to live in abject poverty.

Most violence and war nowadays is for political reasons not religious reasons.
Political reasons based on what.
We can call the war in Afghanistan an economic war but for all intensive reasons it was started through a religious attack.
