Author Topic: Do you think nuclear power is a good, or bad, thing?  (Read 5709 times)

Yeah, clean apart from the hideous bi-product it creates.

Glad I live in a nuclear free country. The only radioactive thing we have are X-Rays. Hydroelectric power is the way to go.
Hydroelectric dams are terrible for the ecosystem, nuclear power is one of the cleanest and safest kinds of power. I'm all for it.

Yup. Although solarelectric (electricity from the sun) and aeroelectric (electricity from wind) power are great too.

Yeah, on a tiny scale.

Yeah, on a tiny scale.
Of course nuclear electricity is still great. I'm not sure why people are burning ancient dinosaurs to keep their lights on and to fuel their cars.

For cars, what other reliable option do we have? I'm not at all knowledgeable on that subject.

Hydrogen is one.

Electrical power from batteries. We can also use Oxygen. Biofuel (like frech fry oil). None of those 4 options will hurt the environment. Although we can't quite be sticking Uranium and nuclear reactors in our cars yet, we have plenty of other, unused, clean options.

Batteries aren't very advanced at their current state, for most electronics the biggest thing inside is the battery.

Nuclear Fusion. Fund it.

Well, im curious. Some people are, some aren't, and I was interested in whether you think it is or isn't and why.

just for those of you living under a rock: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_power

I think it is a good thing, not a permanent solution but a temporary one at the least.

I just found this pic of two of Chernobyl's workers standing on the lid of unit 3.

Kind of amusing for me.

it's awesome if I get to wear one of their hats.

Nuclear Fusion. Fund it.
Scientists are very far along in the process of creating fusion.

Nuclear waste is nothing compared to the damaged caused by fossil fuel plants and those 100% clean hydroelectric things just don't put out enough power for today's needs. Nuclear is the way to go. The only reason we haven't stopped using fossil fuels is because mega-corps still have a lot invested in fossil fuels and are milking all the money out of it.

And, scientists are starting to use the waste to make more energy.

anyway i knew sheath would oppose this
bahaha i knew it seriously

Yeah of course you did. The same way I knew your only contribution to this topics, like all others, would be wishy-washy badly written side pointers. Hurphurp.

well of course its bad if we are to discuss a bunch of science fiction alternatives.

with what we are using NOW for power, nuclear is clean efficient and just all around better then anything.

and no, wind, water, solar is not efficient. to power cities, there isn't space enough to have it all.
hoover damn cant power a city on its own. it takes like 5k windmills to power a small town.
every house in the country can have solar panels and it wouldn't be enough.

it helps, but its not a replacement.
