Lately I've been seeing more and more people wear PowerBalance Bracelets at my school. I don't think they do anything at all, but I want to hear more opinions. People who wear them insist that they "increase your athletic abilities" but they have no proof at all. Discuss your opinions or proof that they work here.

Pretty sure they're a placebo. :/

Placebo effect.

"This Earth magnet is really giving me extra strength!"

Few years later...

"I'm sorry, Mr. Doe, but you have cancer."

Those are probably a lot like these neck things I see people wearing around my school.
They don't do anything but make you think they help you.
Which helps you.
It's all a conspiracy.

Yes^
And are you talking about phiten necklaces? I saw those a lot last year.

The thing is, placebo or not, it is actually working due to that.

mind blown

Yup, another device that practically abuses the placebo effect.

I think so. I never had one but I saw a lot of kids wearing them.

Not placebo, just idiocy.

No, it's just a dumb thing to get profits.

I laugh at people that have these, and any other tv version of something like it

People get these things because they want to be better, and whilst the placebo effect is powerful, I still think people buy them even when they're skeptical about the product's effects. Such is society, fuelled by everyone's poor self-image.

Plastic + plastic =/= mythical powers

The end.

Oh my god, loving infomercials taking peoples money.
