Just cause you didn't use linux doesn't mean it wasn't used at all.

Oh well, I have 3 singleplayer games so dealwithit.

God damn it Anonymous. I want to play my vida gams.
Didn't someone say that Anon didn't do this?

Didn't someone say that Anon didn't do this?

I did. It is true.

I did. It is true.

lolwut. Link me to a legit source that's not youtube that says that.

So you people say the PSN hackers are doing this just to have Linux systems right? They aren't doing this for piracy and they also say they aren't trying to harm the innocent consumers. Well many people have reported their credit card information has been stolen because of the outage and a stuffload of games and whatever have been downloaded for free off the store.

Not harming the innocents and not using this for piracy, my ass.

Get off your high horse. Nobody said piracy wouldn't happen, humans like to get stuff for free. Geohot unfortunately was the indirect cause, but at no time did he support it. It's unfortunate that some people are being harmed by other people's greed, but that's how the world works.

If he didn't encourage piracy then he wouldn't release the root key. Don't believe what every little stuff says.

so he hacks something so to take advantage of using things for free. and his intention was not that people would use things for free?

i think someone forgot what piracy is lol

play on xbox this type of thing does not happen

nonono.

GeoHotz didn't use Linux itself to hack the ps3, he used it as a gateway for hacking for less tech-savy people.

Now sony took Linux away because of that. Still, hackers are getting into their systems, but not as much as before Linux was removed.

But in all seriousness, The "hackers" have apparently obtained everyone's PSN info. Possibly including credit card info

Although we are still investigating the details of this incident, we believe that an unauthorized person has obtained the following information that you provided: name, address (city, state, zip), country, email address, birthdate, PlayStation Network/Qriocity password and login, and handle/PSN online ID. It is also possible that your profile data, including purchase history and billing address (city, state, zip), and your PlayStation Network/Qriocity password security answers may have been obtained. If you have authorized a sub-account for your dependent, the same data with respect to your dependent may have been obtained. While there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility. If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have been obtained.

Instead of detailing all that, why not just asy "everything?"

I always knew Sony was bloody incompetent but jesus christ. if you can ruin a game as good as planetside you obviously have no limits in what you can cigarette up.

Don't be silly, squideey, cuttlefish can't play video games.
Squiddey's magical pelvis allows him to

By your definition anybody who gets hacked once is incompetent :U

If boat manufactures didn't encourage piracy then they wouldn't sell boats. Your logic is flawed.

I'm assuming you have a PS3 and are a victim because of this situation. Now, I can understand why you'd be mad at the person who enabled the hack, but that isn't the issue here. Sony shut down their servers because they couldn't deal with a security hack to their network, not to their individual systems. This doesn't mean it came from a PS3 (Hacked or otherwise) or if it came from a PC.

What? His intention was to re-enable OtherOS, not support piracy. Unfortunately, other hackers who do support piracy developed ways that used Geohot's method so they could play pirated games.
