Author Topic: How Bad Can This Get...? (computer problems)  (Read 795 times)

Well, my sister's had a few odd crashed with her computer: First Windows Explorer, then Media Player (the funny part was that it crashed while playing Still Alive). It's been awhile since her hard drive was corrupted, and we've been re-installing corrupted drivers because games don't work on my sister's computer anymore (they just freeze after a few moments).

How bad is this, and is there any way to fix it?

EDIT: Media Player crashed again after a few brief moments.

My sister's computer is running Windows XP, by the way.

Your computer exploded - Seriously, who cares.
Nah, you shouldn't ask us.
How should I know if it will explode or be fine fater 1 week?

I think it's mother board might of died.
if you ask some one who is an expert in computering like a computer teacher he could help you out by building you one which would cost about £160-ish

Computer crashing frequently =/= exploding. Besides that, why don't you ever say this on those "something is slowing down my computer!" ect. topics?

Well, it's still running, so I'm guessing the mother board hasn't died yet. I'll be sure to have my sister ask my dad when he gets back, but it's unlikely we'll be getting a new computer anytime soon. We just bought my mom a new one to replace her old one from 2004-2005 about.

I don't really know what else to say. Her hard drive was corrupted a month ago, we've been re-installing corrupted drivers, and several things have been crashing. She's using one of my dad's old computers, a Talon running Windows XP. Yesterday Windows Explorer crashed, resulting in having to reboot her computer, today Media Player crashed twice, and all games crash a minute after being started up.

How is it "crashing"? Are you getting a BSoD, error messages, Or does the computer just turn off?

Error messages, and she has to reboot every time.

Because I usually don't read those slow PC threads, but you managed to make your title ambigious enough for me to enter.

your motherboard is going out :(4U

The only options is to buy a new motherboard because if you use it anymore there is a chance of it frying the graphics card and ram chip(they are still salvageable)

My sister says, "That's just splendid news."

Thanks yoyo, locking.
