Author Topic: Can't host a server anymore?  (Read 690 times)

Hi there. I've had this problem for awhile now but I'm kind of hoping to fix it. I used to be able to host a server without port forwarding because of one of the new BL updates (Version 16 was it?). I was able to continue this for 3 months or so but now I can't host anymore. Other players IRC me and tell me that it's broken when it's worked before.
Now, I don't want to port forward because I don't trust the mechanics to it (Seems like it's supposed to let people hack me). So does anybody know how I can host like I used to be able to again? Help would be MAJORLY AWESOME for me.

Sadly for you the only way to fix this is to Port Forward. If you do it right, nobody will hack you.

If you do it wrong, nobody will still hack you.

No offense, but what proof do you have that I can trust you?

Anyway, is there really no other option?

Because if what we were saying would harm you, we wouldn't say it.

Yeah all of the router companies made port forwarding so we can get hacked. Totally worthless!
Just portforward, it's safe if you do it right, Actually, I've done it wrong and nothing happened.

Ok then. I'll just forward them then...

How come it's so easy to just port forward for everyone? Am I the only one with a router that says "no can do"?

I've had multiple ports open for multiple games for a few years now. There is no danger. I've even had the wrong ports open many times.

Yes
