Just saying so he doesn't look up a PC that doesn't exist.

Miga to the rescue :i

I don't need a gaming computer, and I'm already used to using a mac.

Let me list this out:

  • I'm not getting a PC.
  • The guy i talked to was not feeding me bullstuff, it is failing. I knew before-hand, but the diagnostic he ran proved what i was thinking.
  • All your computers may still be running fine from eons ago, because they're desktops. This is a macbook I've been transporting to my school and back daily for the past 6 years. It is my only computer, and I use it close to every day. I think most of your computers would be in a similar condition over time if they underwent such abuse.
  • I don't have a whole lot of money to spend, which is why the refurbed one I linked to in the OP is perfect with the educators discount and everything

I've had a laptop (Gateway) that was used in business from 2003-2008, then used 3 years of school from 2008-early 2011. It wasn't even a gaming laptop.

That's 8 years of heavy abuse, and it still runs fine.

You can get a much better PC for that price, just saying. I've worked with Macs before, they're not worth it. Apple support said that the HDD on my Mac Mini was also failing, but the truth was that it was just fragmented. I just ran the disk optimization tools and it was fine again. They just want your money.

Do you REALLY want MacOS or however the hell it's called?

I just ran the disk optimization tools and it was fine again.

What optimization tools did you use/where are those?

You have to get a pc.

They were built into OSX somewhere.
I'd go check, but my Mac Mini lacks RAM and takes forever to boot up because of it.

Guys, suggest what he needs, and not what you want him to need.

all computers, mac or pc have built in disk defragmenting.
fragmented data is the main reason for slow or inactive harddrives. other then that i would blame it on lack of power if i was upgrading a desktop wrong, or something like that.

never would i just figure "oh its just aged" lol. like its some normal thing and i shouldn't think about it any further and just buy a new one.
pc users would never settle for that reason lol.

Reply to me if you want help.

Is mac OS a must in your new computer?

I am sticking with Mac people. I appreciate your advocating for PC, but it's not what I want and I would appreciate if you would simply express your opinion on whether I should replace the parts or get a new computer.

Miga, I see what you are saying, I'm running Disk Utility right now and I'll see if that improves anything.

Christ OP is a forgetface :U

Mac can mean a ton of things, specify for crying out loud.

You're a forgetface. The exact computer I'm looking at is linked in the OP. As for the software, it's the latest version.

To be more specific for ya buddy: Macintosh Operating System X 10.6.7
