As far as I know nobody has really changed their viewpoints in an argument.  Discussions, i.e. about computer processors, yeah, that's happened because some stupid idiot learns what 64-bit is, but in something like brony vs anti-brony, no.

Literally, it doesn't happen because we're an internet forum.  As long as we all are who we are, nobody will change their opinions on subjects like these.  This same stuff happened with the furry/anti-furry war months ago.
