Author Topic: Should gun safety be taught in schools?  (Read 3035 times)

Gun safety is a good thing to know. Many people are killed by them or others not using a gun properly. In my honest opinion, schools should teach minors gun safety.

It's been argued that it wouldn't be safe letting guns near children, but I find this argument stupid. The whole thing would be teaching safety. And how many children would want to learn how to properly use guns?

Lots. Many children think guns is a fascinating topic, and no doubt would like to be educated about guns.

So what is your opinion on schools teaching gun safety? Please explain your vote in the poll in this thread.

I say we shoot the minors holding guns

aren't there other places you can learn how to use guns? any delinquent could nick a pistol from the room and go columbine on everything.

Give them .22's or blanks, its not like they are going to give them anything automatic or high caliber.

Would be better off having some police officers come in and teach the gun safety, rather than leaving guns in the school.
Actually my school used to have a firing range, but it's used as storage now.

But anyway as long as the kids doesn't have access to guns unless it's under a very specific situation it's alright.

Oh wait, we're talking about a classroom where you hold a gun with blanks and the teacher tells you how to do it, instead of everyone lined up at a firing range?

sorry, i miscommunicated, but in that case, i agree fully. Unless some kid brings bullets into class and loads them into the gun.

But chances are the kid couldn't get access to his own bullets for the first part, or even match the gun magazine type with the type of gun they have.

Also there would be a lot of I PRESSED X IT WON'T RELOAD.

That's extremely doubtful, all it takes is someone's father to have a gun collection.

Yes. Whether or not you deem it inappropriate, people need to be taught basic firearm safety. Just like we're taught fire safety and crossing the street, the basics of firearm safety should be taught to children in an effort to prevent firearm-related accidents.

Just a note, airsoft guns can be used in lieu of real firearms as demonstration tools. I'm not talking teach kids how to reload and USE firearms, I'm talking firearm SAFETY.

Of course its a good thing to learn, They should also offer gun licence courses for kids maybe 15+ But the school shouldn't have the guns there but actually have police officers come with guns like .22's

I'm not sure most of you guys understand. TAUGHT gun safety. As in reading books about guns, doing tests on book reports and practicing with fake guns and stuff like that.

No real guns would be used.

Or just use airsoft guns in place of the real firearm counterpart.

It...ugh hard to explain Lol

or you could not let everyone have guns!
