I think you should have to take a required class out of school.
i agree completely. if in any case someone were to NEED to use a gun, like in a self defense situation, all they need to do is shoot enough for help to arrive or to escape. if someone's buying a gun then, much like drivers ed, they need to be taught how to properly maintain and handle a gun. that way people might stop accidentally blowing their faces off.

I think we should teach gun safety with airsoft guns or something like that for elementary/middle school, then maybe let the responsible kids in high school go to a police firing range to shoot a .22 or something like that. Maybe not.

Anyways, I know a lot about gun safety, my grandpa (cop for 39 years) has been teaching me about gun safety since I could hold a BB gun. This year, I'm getting my hunting licence and he's gonna take me hunting deer with him.

tl;dr teach it with airsoft guns.

I would agree with Nymethus but people find ways to get guns even when their IS gun control in that country.

I never said actual guns to be used!

I said children doing book reports on gun safety, using fake guns to learn what does what and taking tests on what they've learned.

I agree with Ike this would be an excellent idea.

My only concern however, is disgruntled or abused children. However, I do suppose they wouldn't be any more likely, and maybe even less likely to do something violent.

I don't know about where you live, but the schools where I live are gun and drug free zones.

You just ignored the whole loving point of what I meant.

I'm not saying children are GIVEN guns, they're just taught GUN SAFETY to avoid gun-related accidents.

Wait, mandentory courses of gun safty to every student?
Even though many of them will never even consider owning or firing a gun?

Yes? Gun safety would be taught to avoid potential accidents, regardless of if they want to own guns or not.

You have to repeat yourself a lot. People just don't understand

Guns are not needed. I didn't need hold our gun in hunters safety class.

forget off, if you are going to constantly ignore the WHOLE loving POINT OF THE THREAD, go be stupid somewhere else.

How do you not understand my post? I'm saying that we don't need to give every kid a gun (real or fake) to teach gun saftey.

I think it should ALWAYS be taught in schools. No matter what the case is.

Tom

I think it shouldn't be a required class of it's own, it should be added to like health class curriculum.
