I was pleasantly surprised today when I found out that the Intel HD graphics chip in my new laptop can run Portal 2 at an acceptable frame-rate. Interestingly Minecraft runs really poorly on this machine on even the lowest settings; it goes to show that competent optimization can make a significant difference. The laptop was purchased for productivity, not gaming, but it's nice to know I have options for killing time should the need arise.

I went a little bit too far with the poll and this topic. I WILL post a option to pick I don't hate intel and for now on, I will do research BEFORE ranting. Not rant based on my experience with little to no research. :/

And no, Intel Graphics Card are not crap and I'm saying this because if you don't have a graphics card period, you won't be able to use your PC properly.

I'll take back everything I said.

Nice bump, starfish.

Intel Graphics Cards ARE crap, too, I have no idea what you are talking about. They are for business computers that are not supposed to play games. At all.

I hate when people get computers just to have computers and don't take the time to see if it can handle all their crap.

wait, huh

there is no such thing as an intel graphics card

I meant integrated GPU, lol

Intel makes great integrated graphics. Integrated graphics aren't for playing games, though.

When you're buying something expensive you want to make sure you know everything about it. I used to not know any knowledge of PC hardware. I then wanted to build a new computer. Then I had to learn some basic things I needed to know, so I would be able to run everything that I wanted to. I actually didn't spend too much only about $850-$900, back in 2009. It runs every game on the market at about medium-high graphics settings, with no lag issues.

I also agree with everything Miga said.
When you buy a PC, you know you have a perfectly good chance to look at what comes with it, right?

Intel GPUs are meant for business/everyday use (inernet browsing, just general PC use), not gaming. They won't stop making GPUs because they offer low-end GPUs that are excellent on battery to those who need it.

So, basically, don't complain about how nothing runs because you had a perfectly good chance to look a what came with it and threw that chance away. Any smart person knows not to get a computer with Intel graphics if they want to game.

So basically, yeah. Don't complain. Just get a new GPU, or a new laptop if you bought a laptop expecting to do games on it.

Strikes for ATI -

Driver updates can cause incompatibility with other games.

I didn't bought it.
I got it for Christmas.
Plus, my parents was not able to buy a gaming PC so they bought me a normal one.
Sorry about the bump.
