Create a crafting table and create the following:
* A wooden pickaxe
* A door (for obvious reasons)
Then, mine some stone. Use the stone to create a furnace. Use some of the remaining planks to turn logs into charcoal, which you then use to make torches.

We run and get some wood. As soon as we start punching the tree, SUNSET. I hurry up and run back to my base. It's dark. I dig straight down (stupidly) and I get 8 cobblestone. I pile back up using almost all my wood planks, and make a furnace in pitch black. The furnace lights up the room and I make torches. Done. Damn, not enough wood for a door. What should we do now to pass the night?

Then get out of the house and scavange all night gathering wool from sheep, meat from pigs, leather from cows, mushrooms, reeds, catuses & flowers, depositing your items often and trying to avoid all mobs, if a spider follows you get in your house and punch him as he's a 2x2 entity? and can't get in your doorway.

Anyway, didn't know that, there was a guy on a different forum that made a similar thread, he didn't know how to craft a sword.

You got sticks/planks messed up. You made it so sticks are the blade and the plank is the hilt.
