Playstation gets so much damn respect from me for shutting down Playstation network instead of letting the hackers steal all our credit cards and instead they only got a mediocre amount.

I agree with everything they have done, and i'm glad to have a PS3.

I think you are confused on their intentions, they shut it down because if they didn't a lot of sony workers would go to jail, and they would be sued even more than they already are, and they'd lose tons of players and potential money. Making sure their customers are happy and taken care of is only on their priority list in the form of "make them happy enough that they don't quit and sue and demand money back."
