I need help, how do I disable "Open With"

Idk what topic this belongs in, anyways, whenever I double click something it shows a "Open With" file, Its doing to everything that says "Open" Please help. Idk how to get rid of this.

Bump so I can download Java, since my comp was rebooted it lost everything, and when I clicked "Download Java" To play minecraft (When I get it.) It said: Open or Save or Cancel, I clicked Open and when the download finished it said: "Open With" (Look at OP to see what the box looks like, I really need help.)

I pressed "Other Programs" and no matter which one I clicked the checkbox didnt change.

Oh, this stuff happened to me all the time when I was using Windows 98.
Open the Control Panel, go into Folder Options, and click the 'Restore Defaults' button on all the tabs.
I don't know if it'll fix it on Windows 7, but it seems to work on XP also.

The heck is wrong with my comp? I did the thing, It said Double-Click in FO, Apply, Ok, but it wont work, same thing pops up, do I have to shut down comp and turn on?

Try restarting, and/or repairing your operating system.
I've used computers since Windows 3.0, and I have never seen anything that couldn't be solved by restarting or repairing.

Mom died, never seen dad, live with grandparents.

How do I repair operating system? Not a wiz at computer settings.
Also, I shut down and turned back on and it didnt change a thing.
