My low end PC from 2004 can run CS:S on max settings playable. Yours must suck, really bad.
But anyway, yes, it's worth it. Especially if you want to go further than your average joe, and start playing competitively. My old clan drew with the current best clan in Australasia. Competitive play is incredibly fun.
