What the forget, that's how dating works. The purpose of dating is to get to know someone, dating random people you don't know is entirely common, it's a societal norm.

Wow, did something like this. Worked for a while, she nagged me 3/4 to death so I broke up with her.  No I am going to ask a girl I don't even like, I think because.... Never mind, compleatly unbealivable and long story.  Anyway, I am going to ask a girl out who barely even knows me.

/agree. also they won't be shy to say they are breaking up with you, that way you don't get in a bind when you loose a date to a dance the day it's going on.

That's the point. You can always leave or end the date, the point of dates is to learn more about a person and gradually become closer with them.
