Anyone got some tips on making a FPS VS. map?

I am making a VS. map and need some tips. Things like, how to place good cover, how to space out refills and other such things. I was making a map and looked over it thinking, "This SUCKS." I scrapped the whole thing and want to know how I can improve myself.
