Author Topic: Well, apparently we're going to Canada.  (Read 1061 times)

...Mom was probably joking, though. My aunt made a news article saying that the cicadas are coming back, and my side of the family is deathly afraid of bugs.

Quote from: The Article (first paragraph)
They are back; Cicadas have returned from their 13-year absence. Cicadas are noisy, red-eyed insects that are found in the southern states; and as far north as Illinois and Indiana. The insects only emerge from underground once every 13 years to mate; after mating the insects die quickly, according to Reuters. That's really good news for those that have a fear of bugs. The males begin the mating chirping by vibrating membranes in their abdomen to attract the females.

I have a hard time believing this, seeing as I'm 15 and I saw them much later than when I was two years old.

On another note, I sure as hell hope we move to Canada, I've always wanted to go there. Since we live in Ohio, it wouldn't be much of a drive, either! :3

Well I imagine it's not like they all mate, sleep, and die at the same time. Thirteen years is probably just the standard time.

Kingdaro, both you and your father are pussies.

That is all.

I love finding their crispy leftover shells stuck to trees.

i have those things in my back yard. i loving hate those motherforgeters. also i think they come out every 10 years, not every 13. they make noise and leave behind dead bodies everywhere.

I only live with my mother.
Oh.  I apologize. :/

But seriously I've been around cicadas since I was like 6, they are no big deal.  Just squish them.  They make a funny noise.

COME LIVE WITH ME <3

I didn't even notice cicadas were missing.

In NZ we get Cicadas every summer. My cat brings them in, so I have to get them outside. Their legs are spiky, it feels weird when they climb over your hands :)

canada has them as well
