Author Topic: Undelete-able folder pissing me the hell off  (Read 726 times)

I was moving some stuff around, and I made a folder called 'Stuff' which I somehow copied, and it only had my former music folder in it, completely empty. I tried to delete it to clean up my desktop, but it won't let me, despite having full administrative control. I learned that the owner of it forgeted up and is unable to display, so I tried taking control of it, but it won't let me. I can't move the file to another place or delete it, can anyone help me? Google is not producing results.

Delete everything in the file one by one?

The folder and subfolder are empty. I've tried both deleting the main folder and sub folder, but it isn't working.

Can you delete the original folder? This is why I keep restore points for my computer everyday.

No. Anyways, my last restore point must be like really old by now.

What would be the directory for a folder on the desktop named 'Stuff' be in CMD prompt?

Im sorry, I have no clue on that one.

Virus scan, just incase. You can never be too careful.

windows 7: C:\users\(you)\desktop\stuff
windows XP: C:\documents and settings\(you)\desktop\stuff
mac: i dont know

Did both AVG and MalWareBytes

Install Linux to a flash drive, and delete it from there.

For some handicapped reason, its not in that desktop file path, its apparently just "Desktop>Stuff", but CMD won't let me do that.

Try this:

Edit:
It's freeware that lets you take control of files, I used it when I needed to update a system32 file manually.

:c

That only lets me control files, not folders.

This might clarify were the file is a bit more, it isn't under C:\ apparently

Locking, a neat freeware program labeled IOBit Unlocker did it for me.
