Author Topic: When I press shift it acts as the alt key  (Read 757 times)

SO I first noticed this when typing a lab report and every time I pressed shift the computer played a beeping tone. then when I was playing overlord 2 and I pressed shift to target something and my magic was cast. A few days ago I spilled soda on my keyboard and then an hour later spilled water all over my keyboard, which may very well be the cause. I cannot type capitalize any letter that has an alt command associated it. Does anyone know how to fix a problem where your shift key acts as both your shift key and alt key?

Does alt act like shift?

Which shift key did it mess up? Both?

i spilled cereal on my keyboard
it was sticky for about a week but then it went back to normal.
when you spilled it, did you turn the keyboard upside down to let it drain or something?

Does alt act like shift?
nope

ive decided  to take  all of  the  keys  off and give it a thorough  cleaning

Strip your keyboard to the circuit board and look for burned off connections.

The acid in soda will melt away some. If you see any damage, just solder it together.

You could also just buy one of them keyboards at some store for like, $10.

you could also also see if your family keeps any spare keyboards from previously purchased computers

the ones they give you are often the most durable
well, to me anyways
