Why is everyone afraid of spiders?

Even the big poison ones. :\
It's a rational fear, and it's likely something that's been drilled into our human minds from survival.
It's the small insects that can cause the most damage to you.

Sure, you can kill all the lions and fight off all the tigers, but that little six or eight legged crawling thing can sneak on you and have you dead in not long at all.
Besides, lots of insects and bugs and things like that, ants and wasps in particular, are known for swarming.
What's worse than being bitten or stung by an ant or wasp? Being bittern or stung by thousands of ants or wasps.

Well if it's instinct then those loving spiders must have been deadly to the cavemen. We have the right to be afraid then.

reason being that cavemen didnt have australia grade anti-venom back then and the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere at the time allowed for much larger insects  that used oxygenation systems similar to how the ant "breaths"

Well now I have another reason to be afraid of spiders.

There are no poisonous spiders here in Sweden :cookieMonster:

They still bite and you get a big boil from it.

Assuming the Swedish aren't covered in boils naturally.  :cookieMonster:

I think the largest spiders are the Goliath Bird Eaters. They are about the size of a dinner plate. :O Btw. I. Hate. Spiders.

But they are less scary by the fact they don't spin webs and they rarely climb walls.

They are also hairy and fuzzy so that now adds in a cute factor being suppressed by your fear of spiders but still trying to come out.

Get some DDT, there's a load of it floating about. Opens the nerve channels on most open-circulation critters wide open, killing them. That, and it leaves a residue which gets to work whenever an insect/arachnid steps on it.

looks like
:shades:

my spider sense is tingling

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAJ

That's worse than the loving spiders because it can kill you too.

if only we evolved with venom glands
be loving cool

Don't spiders reproduce aloveually anyway?

And I don't like them when they are near me, but I understand their usefulness and will never kill them when they aren't in my way.

Also if OP is afraid of that spider, here is a Theraphosa blondi, or a Goliath Birdeater.
