I think it's post-hardcore.

I think it's post-hardcore.

Post-hardcore is so broad though...

If you want to take a step up towards death metal, you should definately check out Children of Bodom. The vocals might take some time to get used to, but it's definately epic.

Mudvayne is listed by wiki as Nu/Alternative, and they have some enjoyable songs.

But you can never go wrong with some oldschool heavy/trash metal like Metallica, Slayer, Black Sabbath, Megadeth etc..

Mastodon is in no way progressive metal.

Try Between the Buried and Me, or The Contortionist.

They are totally prog, I don't know how you couldn't hear it. Sure there are a lot of sludge and standard heavy metal elements, but the prog is definitely there.

The mars Volta is a godly band, We came as romans is Screamo. Not just is it screamo, its christian screamo. Yea, it exists.

Holy forget Trifax that will take me hours to listen to along with all the other suggestions, but thanks a lot. Right now I'm listening to Bury Tomorrow (Started from the top) and I must admit they are pretty damn good, reminds me quite a bit of ATR but with heavier vocals.

I am very picky with vocals however. I can't stand deep grunting the whole song, plus too much shrieking and similar sounds is also irritating.

Blue Dahli? Was that intentional or did you Mean Blue Stahli?

Oh yeah.

Also, Evergreen Terrace is really good, at least from what song you linked Trifax.
