Author Topic: I want some new Nu/Alternative/Heavy metal or metalcore music  (Read 2914 times)

oldschool heavy/trash metal like Metallica, Slayer, Black Sabbath, Megadeth etc..
THRASH metal, not trash metal.

We came as romans is Screamo. Not just is it screamo, its christian screamo.

We Came As Romans aren't screamo at all. They're post-hardcore. Awful post-hardcore at that. Absolutely no originality.

People seem the think that Screamo is just anything with screams. That's not what it is AT ALL.

We came as romans

forget coming as Romans (They suck starfish anyway) we ARE the loving Romans.

Also there are other Christian metal bands that are far, farrrr better than We Came As handicaps Romans, such as;

In the Midst of Lions
Impending Doom
Centuries Apart
With Blood Comes Cleansing

But they're all Christian so their lyrics are lame, here are some amazing bands that aren't Christian by a long shot.

I don't care if you don't like growling, it's the best sound a human voice can make and you will learn to love it.

But they're all Christian so their lyrics are lame

But you can't understand the lyrics in any of the bands you posted, lol.

Anyways, thanks to Trifax and ultimately VerticalHorizon, I am now desensitized to Death Metal or whatever Vert posted.

Holy stuff.

If you don't mind Death Metal that much, may I point you in the direction of...

Agalloch
Jesu
and Opeth

None of them are really Death Metal, but they are all heavy enough.

Haha, totally didn't see this when I posted. Sick group of bands you got there.

Abandon All Ships!
Attack Attack
The Color Morale
A Day to Remember
The Devil Wears Prada
Emery
Enter Shikari
Mychildren Mybride
Texas in July
Underoath
We Butter the Bread with Butter
The Word Alive

And here's August Burns Red's new song

You and my brother would really get along. He got me into metal, and he's really digging all those bands right now.

Glad to help Dodger.

Also, I got the instrumental version of Fortress from Protest the Hero, because I really don't like their vocals. I have more stuff if you want it, I like the metal that has melody in with it.

Ooh ooh, here's more!
This or the Apocalypse
Silent Civilian
Sky Eats Airplane
A Static Lullaby
Straight Line Stitch (epic female screamer)
Ten After Two
Within the Ruins
Woe is Me
The Word Alive
Your Demise
36 Crazyfists
Scarlett O'Hara
Jamie's Elsewhere
Nonpoint (more hard rock, but I still think you'll like it Dodger)
No Consequence
My Ticket Home
Motionless in White
Like Moths to Flames
Kingdom of Giants

For Today is really really christian, but they have good music.

Agalloch is really good, almost went to see them in Cambridge back at the end of February. Stupid term papers and Monday shows. I'm still bummed.

Even though now I'm more into heavy sounds, I still listen to Black Metal a bunch. So here's some essentials:

Burzum
Darkthrone
Dissection
Blut Aus Nord
Watain
Immortal
Gorgoroth
Enslaved
Bathory

And stuff that's not so Black Metal... and some Dark Folk what joy!:

Ensiferum
Finntroll
Summoning
Ultima Thule
Sonne Hagal

Stoner Metal and what-have-you (Doom Metal/Drone):
Sleep
Om
Electric Wizard
Earth
Burning Witch
Sun O)))

Fun Fact: Mayhem is a bunch of pansies and was only worth listening to with Dead doing vocals.

Edit: This is worth mentioning because Metalcore ruined Hardcore. That's the problem with punk and it's many offshoots, it just meant a different meaning back when it first came out (punk in the late 70s early 80s, Hardcore in the late 80s early 90s, Post Punk in the mid 90s) and now there's not so much need for that image I feel. Times are truly changing. I like to think I wear my bad brains jacket because it means a lot to me and not because Van's shoes bought licensing to sell their image along with MTV.

tl;dr I grew up with a generation that grew up Hardcore fans, not this 4th generation commercialized nonsense

Hey guys, not saying your music isn't good, but I'd kinda appreciate it if we maybe suggested stuff closer to the OP now, bands similar to what Ningyou posted on page 1.

this stuff is some of the hardest metal I've ever listened to.

turn down your headphones before you listen to it, because this stuff is heavy.

Was what I just posted not good?

Pretty much. Even though I myself missed the age of real hardcore, it doesn't take much to realize that most metal-core bands are a bunch of hot-topic posers in it for the money. They basically rip each other's sound off, and they look like emo-fairy boy friends while they do it.

Megadeth - tornado of souls, Megadeth - sudden death, Megadeth - this day we fight, Megadeth - holy wars the punishment due

Was what I just posted not good?

Yeah, but now the topic has strayed a bit further off into the harder genres than I wanted.
