The TV series is actually pretty good. I've watched SG-1, Atlantis, and Universe.

This is going to be very biased. Most of these kids grew up with the newest Star Wars trilogy being released, and probably seeing the older one, too. I like both fairly equally, but I've always loved Star Trek: The Next Generation a lot (gotta love Piccard), and so I'll gravitate towards Star Trek.
