Author Topic: HALP: Crashing in Gary's mod.  (Read 1259 times)

When I open a new game of Garry's mod, Everything's fine.  I spawn a few city scanners, hide, and start sniping them.

One problem; when I stab or kill a NPC, or even just touch a mine, (which explodes on contact,) The sound made at that point loops for about 2 seconds, then a blue screen comes up with a few sentences, and the laptop reboots.

This can happen while playing HL2, also, including HL2 DM.

I have a DELL Latitude D610.  It's fine when I'm playing blockland, so....

Errors that come up after restart;

Then I click technical info....

What do you make of this?

I'm getting annoyed with this.

Please halp!

God. Two topic already?  Will SOMEONE help?

I really wish i could help, but my computers broken.

Good luck though!   :)

Your computer cannot run it. Just because you can run Blockland doesnt mean you have a good comp.

Try completely uninstalling it, then reinstalling it.

Has it ever fully worked for you, or did you just install it?

Also, you're computer might not be compatible with it. As _Dark_ said, just because your computer can run Blockland doesn't mean it can run Gmod.

I've tried re-installing it...but I may of done something wrong. Thanks!

Oh good god, not a D610...
Both Nickelob Ultra and I can tell you how much those laptops suck.

Honestly, I'd say that it's the D610 alone that's causing all of your problems, but I'd try running the games in DirectX 8 or 7 first before giving up all hope from what I just said. To do that, right click the game on Steam, go to Properties, hit "Set Launch Options" and type in:
Code: [Select]
-dxlevel 80 If that doesn't work, type in:
Code: [Select]
-dxlevel 70
If it still doesn't work after that, then I honestly don't know what to tell you but to maybe reinstall.

If what Miga said doesn't work then there is absolutely nothing you can do.

The Dell Latitude D610, all forms of it, are absolute stuff when it comes to playing ANYTHING 3D.  The hardware in it is just so absolutely god awful it can barely handle Blockland.  Hell, I don't even know how it's able to play Blockland.  The laptop has pretty much the lowest amount of power that is possible into a bulky laptop.

My advice is to just get a new computer so you don't have to struggle with it, but you are welcome to try anyway.

get an optiplex gx260 they are quite reliable

Get a Mac, try again.

Gaming on an overpriced, underpowered PC that's manufactured by Apple? That's a joke.

These are the worst answers I've ever seen to any technical thread ever.

Please refrain from offering suggestions unless you actually know what you're talking about.

My mac has worked better than any PC I've ever seen.
Most of Windows' features are copied from other companies. It's paying Microsoft for what Apple had but some other guy made 2 years before.

Just wait until it's six years old.
I got a Mac Mini for $799 back in 2005 because I was basically forced to (parents thinking it would have less of a chance of breaking), and six years later, it can't even handle 360p YouTube.

Also, don't try to say that it's because it's old, because I had a laptop from 2003 (an IBM ThinkPad T40) that could handle 480p YouTube perfectly fine. Apple hardware may work fine, but later on, it will give you trouble regardless.

You're not paying Microsoft for a PC, you're paying the manufacturer.
