Author Topic: Simple Host Server Co. Comes To Blockland!  (Read 15774 times)

I still want to know what version of Wine you use so I can switch over to Linux.
Same. Also, most people don't realize how little it takes to run a BL server. For example, I can get 28 players and almost 100k bricks before the lag makes it unplayable on a server that only has 512mb RAM and a single core processor. You just have to tweak your settings a little.

Your site is looking far better. A custom theme (make sure it's clean, similar to the one you have now) would do your website a lot of good.

Also, you should look into creating server status "widget" people can place on websites and in signatures. This alerts anyone who wants to connect of the server's status and other info, and at the same time, provides you a great way to advertise by placing a logo in widget.

I would be tempted to try this out for a week, just to see how it goes.

Is that a possibility?

Tom

It's probably against your ISPs terms of service to run a "business" or hosting service off a residential connection. They probably won't find about, but if they do your connection will probably be terminated. I don't think your parents would like that very much.

We already have several. Destiny made one along with somebody else I can't remember.

I know we have a few, I was suggesting he make some with his logo on them. And they wouldn't only apply to BL servers either.

I will be putting one together, not sure when it will be ready.

GOOD NEWS
Our blockland test server should be out in the next 1-3 days.

Yes it is, we can give you a test server for a bit, however we will have a public test server running soon.

Sounds good, PM me when it's ready.

Alright, I'm glad to see interest in our servers.

Big question that doesn't seem to have been asked yet.
How does the control panel look?
What features are available there?

A control panel will not be out at the time of release, however we are working on finishing one up. We include FTP, and that will be included from the day we start it.

So let me start.

What makes it better than mine?

But how about console access?
That's pretty much needed (at least write access).
Have a look at http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=152637.0 and especially http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=152637.msg3618861#msg3618861.
The reason for it being in drama is because Badspot thought that it was a virus. This claim was later pretty much proved wrong.

It might be cheaper. Besides that it looks like it's worse.

That's exactly what I have, though.
