Author Topic: Simple Host Server Co. Comes To Blockland!  (Read 15682 times)

Are you going to add features onto the dedicated servers, or different packages?
Like, how are we going to install the add-ons into the server.
We will have FTP access, and an online control panel. There will be different packages, I'm not sure if I will be selling per slot or what, and the good thing about having different packages is that people who don't need a swarm of users on their server shouldn't have to pay as much as someone who does.

Sounds cool, thanks.

What's in the control panel?

What's in the control panel?
All the settings, a file manager, a console, all the stuff you should have in a control panel. Also allows restarting of servers, starting, stopping, and the payment system is integrated into it.

But all the dedicated.bat does is launches it with the -dedicated and -map arguments. For example, I can launch a dedicated like this on Linux:

wine "/home/testuser/Blockland/blockland.exe" -dedicated -map bedroom

EDIT:
The workaround is just a dedicated.sh file. And all it has to do is that command, and you're done, server is running. Or you can have a more advanced server setup script, I made one, but we don't use it anymore.

you never got back to me.

EDIT: Just did. I seriously lol'd the fact that it's Wine. I used 1.2.2 but had the master server problem

That was precisely my point.

Honestly, I would rather have a decent and cheap server, than an amazing and expensive server.
$6.00 a month. Cheaper if you buy multiple months.

Not very expensive at all.

Explain 'the master server problem'.

Explain 'the master server problem'.

For me, and some others, when you get a dedicated server up, it will show up fine. You get on for about 5-10 minutes, no problems. Then wine start's loving up.

The server vanishes off the master server, but you can connect through IP.

I talked to the guy via Live Chat, and he has no idea what I am talking about.

Joey Kukla: It's really effecient.
TomTheGeek: I know

Joey Kukla: Host them?
TomTheGeek: just that blockland really craps out

Joey Kukla: Ok
Joey Kukla: Well, I make a .sh file for starting Blockland servers easily.
Joey Kukla: I may be able to give that to you.
Joey Kukla: But my recommendation is first do this in Terminal:
TomTheGeek: Does it fix the master server posting problem?
Joey Kukla: wine /root/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/Blockland/Blockland.exe
Joey Kukla: Oops
Joey Kukla: Not done yet
Joey Kukla: wine "/root/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/Blockland/Blockland.exe" -dedicated -map bedroom
Joey Kukla: Are you having issues with Minecraft as well?
TomTheGeek: No
Joey Kukla: Just blockland, ok?
TomTheGeek: I actually did that though
Joey Kukla: What was the error?
TomTheGeek: and i still got the posting problem
Ticket S87049-T4 is created. The chat transcript will be attached to this ticket after the transcript is saved by system.
TomTheGeek: The server stays up for more than 5 minutes
TomTheGeek: and it dies off the master server
TomTheGeek: but the server still works
Joey Kukla: Hmm
Joey Kukla: Do you think I can get back to you with a fix via email?
TomTheGeek: sure
Joey Kukla: Alright, I created a ticket
TomTheGeek: alright thanks
Joey Kukla: And the chat transcript will be there, I'll send you an email when I have an idea of what's wrong, or if I have any questions.
Joey Kukla: Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
TomTheGeek: Nope that's it
Joey Kukla: Have a great day, and thank you for contacting Simple Host Server Co.! We hope you enjoy our services we provide.

In the chat, he explains how he is using 11.04 (Just used it) and Wine 1.2.2 (Stable, tested for the glitch, and yes it did happen).

In my experience it just refuses to connect to the master server at all after blockland has been on for a few minutes.

Wouldn't a webcom_postserver(); loop work?

Or is the problem that that DOESN'T work?

Just a guess.

Try starting a client under wine, joining and playing on a server for a while, disconnecting and then refreshing the server list.

I don't use wine :3

just trying to helo ;)

Wait, you are trying to "helo"?
Assuming that you don't mean the identification part of the original SMTP protocol I have no idea about what you mean.
