They have the classic laser, but as usual the gauss rifle is the best weapon in the game.

You're right because the entire enclave was on the oil rig just like how the US military is in the white house.

Anti material rifle.Get indencary rounds. Stay out of sight of enemy. Target them in VATS then close it. They will be lit up and take damage. Will eventually kill them and you will lose no karma, reputation or gain hostility.

Or open console, type "kill".

They lost access to the petroleum which meant that they couldn't repair their equipment or conduct science as quickly as the NCR and Brotherhood of Steel, so they fell behind technologically and eventually succumbed to attrition. Then you had the fact that they had no allies at all, and that they were hunted down and killed by the Brotherhood, the NCR, and the Master's Army.

I didn't get it at all when I played Fallout 3. I'd already played through the first two before playing it and for some reason the Brotherhood of Steel were the good guys or something. I kept thinking they were going to kill me at any second because they wanted my technology.
