Author Topic: Respect  (Read 1612 times)

I've currently been playing on Minecraft and going to its forums, as well going to other online forums. I've just seen drop in respect for the Blockland forums due to our community being, sorry to say, a really un-friendly place. I've been here from the start of Blockland, 584, and I've never really gotten close to the community. I really don't want to see one of my favorite games be put in the dog house, and I know its seems really geeky of me to say something about a game but I've just always enjoyed Blockland. Don't get me wrong that there is not plenty of nice, friendly people lurking in the community, because there is.  What can we do, I'm not sure. Its all up to the individual to process that.

I agree with you on many levels.

However, trolls will be trolls.

There is not plenty of nice, friendly people lurking in the community, because there is.
=D

The average age and maturity of the users of this forum precludes the formation of any reasonable discussion. There exists a small group of older players that could participate politely and productively in a forum, but there is little reason for most to return; Blockland hasn't had any "killer" features added lately and it remains a niche product primarily aimed at children.

Although it may be true that age can, to some extent, tell one's maturity, it's nowhere near perfectly accurate. There are younger users that do have the ability to converse without blowing stuff up on the topic, although pretty scarce.

like me, maybe? :D

I can tell you, though, that to some old users it's not always new features that draws them in again. They could have come back because most other sandboxing block games are pretty stuffty, and simply can't stand up to this game. I could Google up "sandbox block building game" and not a thing would neither sound nor look as interesting as Blockland. It just has a great replay value, wonderful building interface, etc... the concepts of this game are simply better executed in this game than most others.

Your points still stand, though, about the "small group" and "aimed at children" bits.

...I've been here from the start of Blockland, 584...

If that's your ID, I'm 228, and that's not the start of Blockland.

demo mode?

Really about my ID? And the fact I said somthing about being close to the start of Blockland, give me a break.

half the forum community was tight long before there was a blockland ID to even buy.

I played the beta too, I remeber the lego arms and legs.

I'm sorry, what you are referring to as "beta" I'm guessing is v0002, which was not "beta".
