Author Topic: Why do people make "RP" servers?  (Read 3028 times)

Seriously. I have not seen a single working RP server in my entire time here. Ever. Not one.

That is all.

Because they're easy as stuff to host, and get plenty of players.
I guess.

Also, criticism is not allowed at RP servers either

If the server is slightly good, it makes then look like a genius.  Im interested in them because I like VCE stuff and that's what RP is.

And to you Demian, what makes for a good RP server?

Structure, realism (with a limit) and some good humour here and there. I mean what is an RP without a bit of humour? :3

RP servers are made because people have bland lives and need roleplays to feel like thier lives actually have something interesting in them.

Sounds like the reaction as to why people watch reality shows that have no actual representation of that area.

RPs can be fun if the people there are intelligent and mature (which 80% of the time doesn't happen.)

i feel bad for you if you've seriously never seen a good rp server :c
it's understandable though, they are somewhat rare

Tsk tsk, you missed the first one on the server list

A role-playing theme allows for the implementation of arbitrary rules with little inherent game-play. It's an easy way for players to build themselves a little kingdom with which they can further inflate their egos; this is commonly referred to as a "power trip". It requires neither talent, effort, nor creativity to setup, but none-the-less it draws in players looking for structure in a game that lacks it.

Nice sophist text. Moving on from that, this almost describes my feelings. But I'm still clinging on to the whole "fake reality show to make you feel better about yourself." I mean, Jersey Shore? We don't have Italians on the beaches and night clubs. We have pizzerias and bonfires, foo.

Some Jail RP's like Ticonderoga's are not that bad. There are the usual cigarettes who just kill instead of following etiquette. But other than that is' pretty fun. at least for me.
