Author Topic: IPV6 Day- Internet policies changing  (Read 931 times)

So, today I heard is IPV6 day. I had no idea what it was, so I researched a bit, and they're changing a lot of Internet policies and the way it works. Basically, the world is running out of IP Addresses and they need to find a new way to manage the World Wide Web. Xbox Live and AOL have not met those policies yet, so the Internet for them is down.

Please, post your comments on the situation.
Thanks! :D

EDIT: Added link to News story for reference/more details

Hooray, now Port Forwarding will be an starfish!

Wait, what exactly is going on? Can I have a link to a news story or something?

After about 14 failed attempts at port forwarding, I finally got my Minecraft server to work a few days ago.
Now IPv6 is here.

(On-topic:) Eh:Dont:know:abo:ut:IPS:

About freaking time they did that!

Just to increase the rage when you realize at some point you actually have to type these things to connect to somewhere. Examples.

IPv6
21DA:00D3:0000:2F3B:02AA:00FF:FE28:9C5A
21DA:D3:0:2F3B:2AA:FF:FE28:9C5A
FE80::0202:B3FF:FE1E:8329

IPv4
192.0.2.235
192.168.254.3

Enjoy your rage.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHH H!!!!!

/rage

they can't just suddenly stop IPv4, can they?

they just start using IPv6, right?

I thought this already happened like two months ago

Tom

I don't see how IPv6 can make port forwarding any harder.

Cool, let's leave out China

I don't see how IPv6 can make port forwarding any harder.
I'd rather have a giant number than hex, or at least two ways to write the address
