Author Topic: OH stuff WHAT THE forget STORMS AGAIN  (Read 2670 times)

oh balls that is probably coming to where I am
we've already had a power outage earlier today

skill, why do you WANT storms?
storms:
no power
rain
loud noises
flashes
possible fires
wind
abnormal temperature
closed roads
floods
traffic
and the list goes on.

And every so often there is a flash without sound.
Heat.

It does that sometimes, especially on beaches, it's heat in the clouds making flashes.

This makes me love how live in a region where the atmosphere is pretty calm.

I live in central Connecticut, and we got a stuffload of rain and wind. Also lots of lightning and a few small power surges.

I'm just going to bump this because of our flight.

The way down to florida: no storm problems, flew in pretty much a straight line from Boston to Orlando.
Way back: this storm was in the way, had to fly over land and went up through Pennsylvania and New York, flew into New Hampshire and then turned around and landed.

It was pretty goddamn scary, we were looking out the window and the clouds were pitch black.

When the storm came through my area, it suddenly became windy and dark. The rain started a bit late. Luckily, the power never went out. It blinked, but never went out.

What's strange is the Internet will slow down and stop when a thunderstorm rolls in.

But this wasn't anything to what I experienced this time last year.

now imagine being in a flight flying right next to those black clouds and watching lightning go down, then airplane starts shaking due to turbulence
it scared the stuff out of me, but we made it through alive (no stuff)

Didn't you have to turn around to and go back to the black cloud? Thats what they did on my plane coming back from Dallas. Burbank, California to Missouri to Dallas texas, then Columbus ohio.

Now imagine tree branches flying past your window, with hurricane force winds threatening to blow apart you windows. Think of lightning bolt after lightning bolt light up the house and deafen you with thunder. Imagine a stream channel running through your backyard. When it's all over, trees around your home at snapped down to the base, some are completely uprooted. A mighty tree has a clean split in it from a lightning strike. Your favorite hiking trail is blocked by dozens of fallen trees. The power doesn't come back for five days.

Now stop complaining about a bumpy plane ride. This is exactly what happened this time last year. I'm still cleaning up from it.

no i loving know what happened dude, i'm only saying it was pretty loving scary. in fact, why don't you stop complaining? last week before I flew to florida we had tornadoes all over the state, severe thunderstorms all day and trees falling just like you were complaining about. by the way, if the power was out for '5 days' then how are you posting? the power going out would knock out your internet with it. unless you're on a generator or in a shelter with a generator, you shouldn't be able to post. also, i don't think wind alone takes down windows.

plus, if you're so devastated about your little hiking trail why don't you go out and cut up the trees in the way? if i was that attached to a hiking trail i'd be out there working to get it back.

edit: but whatever let's stop fighting, we know that we were both scared stuffless.

Typhoon Standby Signal No. 1 here, folks. Typhoon's gonna make landfall tomorrow; sadly it's gonna make landfall 200km away.

by the way, if the power was out for '5 days' then how are you posting?
last year.
Look, we've all experienced these kinds of moments. It's not really smart to brag about hom much damage someone's property sustained, or how bad a storm was.
