Author Topic: Comp crashes while playing games  (Read 1229 times)

I'm kind of having an issue right now where like, every game from Portal 2 to Garry's mod, Minecraft to Brink, after like 15 minutes of play time my computer just completely shuts down. No errors come up or anything, it just shuts down instantly like if you pulled the plug out the back. It boots right back up as if nothing happened, like it doesn't even ask me if I want to do the disk check when it starts back up. At first I thought it might be over heating, but I checked my temperature while play Minecraft and it never went above 50°C, and it crashed around 48°C. This all started like a week or so ago, and I haven't been able to play my PC that much because of it.

I've already updated my drivers and took a can of compressed air to the entire inside of the PC, didn't fix it.

Specs and stuff:

Power Supply: ATX 12V 350W

Wat do?

I was having similar problems with our family desktop a while back, and after a long while of troubleshooting and trial and error, we figured it was the power supply causing the problem. We swapped it out for a new one, hasn't happened since.

Bump, just crashed again in the middle of Brink.

Yeah, power supply was the first thing I thought.

Your power supply is balls low. It may not even be outputting 350 watts since their performance tends to degrade over time and cheaply made ones never really reach their advertised limit anyway.

If the computer craps out while playing games with no system error given then it probably is the power supply.

My computer also crashes while playing games, till i found out my stuffcard died out and can't be recognized.

Replaced the power supply with a 600W unit and it's still doing it omgomgomgomgomg

Random crashes all around!

How old is your computer?

stuff's starting to happen to me too, but I think my graphics card is just loving up. :(

3,9... Still better then mine..
3,7 :c

Oh my loving god this is pissing me off. The hottest component in my PC was 102°F and it crashed.

WHAT THE forget IS GOIN ON

Could be processor failure, how old is the computer.

The processor is the oldest component, but I got it in 2009, and when I installed the new 600W power supply I took a compressed air can to the insides.

something might have short circuited
