EDIT: It turns out it was a bad cable but my dad put in the new PSU as well. It seems that my motherboard might be getting a bit old though. Haven't tested any games yet but the computer seems to be working overall.
Before you make a stupid remark like how I'm posting, I'm on my loving Laptop.
I'm not sure if my PSU is severely damaged but there's something wrong. I was playing Dead Rising 2 with Gamefandan when suddenly my computer just blacked out. I figured it was overheating and opened my computer. Of course I found dust and cleaned it out and I went to start up my computer. I hit the button, nothing happens. Well forget. In order to keep the computer on I have to hold the power cable in a certain fashion to even get my computer barely running. Even then it's not enough and the fan barely spins. It's probably just the cable itself but I might as well put in my 650 watt PSU. I should have done it long ago because my 500 watt PSU doesn't support my power requirements.
Can't do it without my dad though so I'm pretty much stuck without a computer except this laptop for a while.
