Author Topic: Bones4's Titanic - FAQ  (Read 4639 times)

Who is this few amount of people and how can I be one of them?
That question has been answered with the post above yours, and with this newly added question:

So who makes up this "little team"?
Thus far, the following people have contributed:
  • Bones4 - Project founder and lead builder
  • RMS Gigantic - Lead research Support
  • TicTac - Slave (He does the repetitive jobs)
  • Remousavi - Achiever of the impossible (He has built propellers, slanted cranes, etc.
  • Hugums - Copier
  • Orthone - eventer
  • Computermix - JVS modder
If you have a skill in a field not listed above, you have an above average chance of landing yourself on the team.

I can script.

I can script.
We actually have something we were looking for earlier: Could you develop some type of script to lengthen the range that sound can travel in-game? The reason we need this is that the steam whistles on the ship are on top of the vessel's funnels, so far up that they cut off before the sound can reach the area they are activated from.

I got some skills.

Creative consultant - decoration design, interior design, emitters, lights, etc.

Long periods of time to build for hours on end.

All my builds are manually built, no duplicator and default bricks only. I can build extremely well for someone who doesn't use much add ons.

Mapping - I can make interior, terrain or slate maps. I could make a specific slate map for the titanic with a giant iceburg with deep or shallow water.

Here, I have an idea. I can make a music loop of the whistle. Then I'll send you a modified speaker that makes noise not louder but just farther range. Then you can just event it:

Delay:none [X] On activate/Named brick:The speaker/Set music/steam whistle
Delay:How long the whistle will be [X] On activate/Named brick:The speaker/Set music/None

You can work around this by placing the sound low enough for people to hear. The steam whistle is meant to be loud, so it doesn't matter what distance you put it.

I mean like I can make it louder too.

And I mean I can work around the issue with out making it louder.

It will work fine ok.

RMS here Just let me make the loop. Use a 5x range brick then event how I told you.

I got some skills.

Creative consultant - decoration design, interior design, emitters, lights, etc.
This will not be needed: we know what virtually every room on the ship looks like in terms of style, and we know where every chair and table goes. But do you perhaps know key characteristics of existing interior decoration styles? Such as King Louis XV?

Mapping - I can make interior, terrain or slate maps. I could make a specific slate map for the titanic with a giant iceburg with deep or shallow water.
How about making a day/night cycle of the map we are using right now, with the water seemingly rushing north-south at 37.9757218 bricks per second, with a gap in the water that forms to the shape of the Titanic's hull?

New question added:

I see that you and Bones4 have the same clan tags. Is this tied to the project at all? If so, how?
The clan tags in question are "ANtR" before our screen names, and "BLNW" after them. These are related to the project, as a matter of fact: "ANtR" stands for "A Night to Remember," a famous book by Walter Lord recounting, to the best of his ability, the events on the night of the sinking of the Titanic. It was also made into a similarly famous movie in 1958.
"BLNW" keeps the theme of remembrance, as it stands for Belfast, Liverpool, New York, and Washington DC, four cities with major Titanic monuments.
Anyone on the list above may wear the clan tags, but anyone not on the list caught wearing the clan tags should be reported to either Bones or myself.

Does the whistle idea I told you work?

With the day/night script?
